ZONE 1 & 2 DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Have your blood tested for possible food intolerance’s or carry out an elimination diet to identify foods that could potentially promote skin imbalances. Maximize your cranberry intake, their phenolic content inhibit bacterial overgrowth. Support your intestinal flora with a daily dose probiotics (preferably soil-based organisms and prebiotics (artichokes, banana, chicory, garlic, jicama, onions, etc.) Take a digestive enzymes and betaine HCL with heavy and protein-rich meals. Drink plenty of water, a dark and foul smelling urine is a clear indicator that your body is dehydrated. Include fruits, vegetables, grains and/or nuts and seeds in every single meal to meet your daily fiber requirements. Glutamine promotes health of the digestive tract, it protects the intestinal lining and repairs leaky gut. This amino acid is available in supplement form but it also abounds in foods such as lean meats, seafood, nuts, eggs, legumes and leafy greens. Commercial hair products contain chemicals like silicone-derived ingredients that suffocate the skin, especially around the hairline, and promote breakouts and irritation. Replace them with natural/certified organic formulas. The forehead area is also connected to the nervous system. ZONE 3 LIVER
This is the zone where food allergies show up first, so cut out alcohol and greasy food and dairy. Do at least 30 minutes of excercise each day and get adequate sleep so your liver can rest. Avoid, sugary, fatty, processed foods and consume plenty of high fibre fruit and vegetables to keep your digestive system moving. De-stress with visualization, meditation, yoga or anything else that helps you to relax. You may also like to trial some dandelion tea or fresh lemon juice in warm water to naturally detoxify your liver.
ZONES 4, 5, 7 & 8 KIDNEYS
Anything around the eyes (including dark circles) point to dehydration. Remember that fresh foods contain 80-90% water and are a great way of ramping up your hydration levels. Flush excess sodium levels that cause water retention with potassium-rich foods like avocado, bananas, beans, dried fruits, green leafy greens, potatoes, squash, tomatoes, etc. Dark under-eye circles could indicate adrenal burnout. Eliminate process foods and reduce as much as possible your exposure to electromagnetic fields (TV, computers, cell phones, etc) and take frequent breaks from it. Do not forget to use adaptogenic botanicals and get involved in mind-balancing practices.
ZONE 6 HEART
Get your blood pressure and Vitamin B levels checked. Reduce spicy, or pungent food, cut back on meat and ensure to get regular fresh air. Take in more “good fats” such as Omega 3 and 6 found in nuts, avocados, fish and flax seed. Since this area is filled with dilated pores, check your skincare and makeup for any pore clogging ingredients such as heavy oils, waxes and silicone. Keep your sun exposure for vitamin D purposes only. Make an effort to minimize your intake of alcohol and coffee. Salt is your worst enemy. Spices, algae, apple cider vinegar and lemon are great ways of adding flavor to your meals. If you must use salt, choose Himalayan and Aztec over the industrialized varieties. Polyphenol’s provide excellent benefits for cardiovascular disease, so much so that they can decrease it by an impressive 46%. You can find polyphenol’s in all kids of anise, berries, cloves, teas, grapes, pomegranates, cacao, plums, apples, olives, etc.
ZONES 9 & 10 RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Try breath work and breathing exercises to oxygenate your lungs and build lung capacity. Gently increase your cardio exercise to also enhance lung function and provide a metabolic boost. Dairy and gluten are highly mucus-forming foods, replace them with vegetable milks and gluten-free grains. Keep your hands of your face at all times. If you must touch it, thoroughly wash your hands first. Frequently clean your cell phone and computer with eco-friendly wipes. Change your pillowcase twice per week. If you suffer from any infectious skin disease change it every other day. Discontinue all synthetic fragrances, being exposed to their toxic fumes has similar effects to smoking and secondhand smoking.
ZONES 11 & 12 HORMONES
This is the prime area for stress and hormonal changes. Breakouts in this area also indicate when you are ovulating (and on what side). Manage stress by eliminating stressful situations in your life, take up meditation, yoga and if your wearing scarves, or turtle neck sweaters make sure the fibers are clean that are in contact with your skin and if you have long hair, ensure your not using styling products which contain silicone as these will clog skin. Steer clear of non-organic animal foods that will wreak havoc on your hormonal levels.
ZONE 13 STOMACH
Step up your fiber intake, reduce toxin overload and sip herbal teas that include ginger to help digestion. Breakouts in this area could also be related to candida overgrowth, so it is a wise idea to avoid sugar, dairy, gluten, mushrooms, vinegars, corn and soy. You can fight off yeast with probiotic-rich foods (kombucha, sauerkraut, microalgae), probiotic supplements and prebiotics. If you suffer from breakouts around the lip area, it is important that you completely clean the residues of acidic and/or greasy foods after eating. Lip balms with heavy-weight oils or petroleum-derived emollients could also be the culprit. It is claimed that fluoride toothpastes produce irritation thus lead to zit formation.
ZONE 14 ILLNESS
Pimples in this area indicate your body is fighting bacteria in order to avoid becoming sick. To help, increase your rest and sleep time, eat Eat lots of raw and colorful fruits and vegetables as they are packed with antioxidants and enzymes. Astragalus, echinacea, garlic, ganoderma, ginger, turmeric and cat´s claw could help support your immune system. A whole-food multivitamin and multi-mineral will also boost your immune functions. Stave off infections by avoiding stimulants like alcohol and cigarette smoke. Rest and sleep and much as needed.
There are 3 key factors that result in back acne:
- Wearing tight and/or moisture-promoting clothing. Always buy clothes manufactured with wicking fabric and make sure they fit you perfectly.
- Carrying heavy backpacks and purses; doing so will only produce inflammation. Trolley suitcases are the most practical way of toting heavy objects.
- Applying silicone-containing conditioners will suffocate the skin, plus they are bio-accumulative. Buy natural/organic conditioners instead.
